AcelRx is dedicated to the development and commercialization of new therapies for the treatment of pain and other conditions where there is an unmet need for improved safety and efficacy. It aims to improve the quality of medical care by bringing novel technologies to market that meet the needs of patients, physicians, regulators and payers.

The Company currently has three product candidates in clinical development. The initial product candidates all utilize the highly selective mu opioid agonist sufentanil, currently approved for intravenous administration as an anesthetic and analgesic. The analgesic efficacy and safety of sufentanil has been well demonstrated in both animals and humans.

The company applies its proprietary dosage form and delivery technologies to enhance the safety, therapeutic benefit and commercial attractiveness of currently approved compounds.
